Ron Hockersmith. 70. of Connersville, died Tuesday evening, November 22, 2016, at his residence.

Ron was born in Connersville, Wednesday, July 10, 1946, to William and Geraldine Brumback Hockersmith, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a 1964 graduate of Connersville High School and a U.S. Army veteran of the Viet Nam War. Most recently, Ron was employed as the transportation director at the Fayette County Senior Center. Ron was born in Connersville, Wednesday, July 10, 1946, to William and Geraldine Brumback Hockersmith, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a 1964 graduate of Connersville High School and a U.S. Army veteran of the Viet Nam War. Most recently, Ron was employed as the transportation director at the Fayette County Senior Center. He retired from Roots Blower as the traffic manager after 33 years of service. Ron had also worked at the former Leo Kahn Clothing Store and IRCD Trucking after returning from the military. Ron loved his children and grandchildren. He volunteered as an official scorer at many high school events and at Eastview School kindergarten class. He attended First United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Connersville Jaycees. Ron loved to golf and had been a member of the Connersville Country Club.

Ron is survived by his wife, the former Ann Weston , whom he married March 29, 1969 at the First United Methodist Church; his children: LeeAnn Wilson and her husband, Michael of Glenwood; Jennifer Rebecca "Becky" Hockersmith and Ryan Evan Hockersmith, both of Connersville; his siblings and their spouses: Maria E. Gabbard and Dan of Shelbyville, Teresa C. Steele of the Alpine community, Bill and Teresa Hockersmith of the Columbia community; his grandchildren: Ashley, Chelsea and Evan Wilson; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, 729 Central Avenue, Connersville, with Rev. Doug Barton and Pastor Merle Seeley, officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Fayette County Veteran Council prior to the service. Friends may visit at the church from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Animal Shelter or to the Fayette County Foundation Education Fund.
